An improved gateway to the river has us seeing green at Grant Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard

The Grant Street Crossing improvements are complete!

Riverlife is pleased to announce that construction has finished on the improvements to the pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Grant Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard in downtown Pittsburgh.

The Grant Street Crossing is the first phase of Riverlife’s initiative to create a more welcoming and visible entrance to the Monongahela riverfront for pedestrians and cyclists, including users of the Great Allegheny Passage portion of the Eliza Furnace/Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

Many thanks to the members of the downtown community who worked with us to make this project happen, and especially our funders: the Benter Foundation, the Hillman Foundation and the Grable Foundation. The fun design is by LaQuatra Bonci Associates.

Check out more photos at the project page, and stay tuned for an official celebration of this trail connection in the new year!
