A golden night for Pittsburgh’s riverfronts

Riverlife’s Party at the Pier raised $200,000 and welcomed hundreds of new supporters

Riverlife’s Party at the Pier: Gold & Glam, presented by PNC welcomed a sold-out crowd of 750 guests to the outdoor amphitheater at Rivers Casino on September 5, 2014. The event was a celebration of our 15th anniversary and Pittsburgh’s downtown riverfronts. Over $200,000 was raised to benefit Riverlife’s work to reclaim, restore and promote the city’s urban waterfronts, making this year’s Party at the Pier the most successful Riverlife fundraiser ever. The event sold out several days in advance due to the buzz and anticipation building throughout the summer.

Guests arrived at the casino valet drop-off and, after checking in, were greeted with champagne cocktails and a beautiful sunset walk along the North Shore riverfront down to the party entrance, where the Gateway Clipper was docked and golden decor by Bill Chisnell Productions gilded the outdoor amphitheater and massive tents. With its public trail, boat dock, beautiful green design and access to nearby attractions and recreation, the Rivers Casino riverfront was a golden example of how Pittsburgh’s modern riverfront public spaces are aiming high and attracting thousands of users. Signs along the walkways pointed out the stormwater management functions of the amphitheater landscape, showcasing the marriage of elegant park design and ecological function.Illuminated Riverlife sign

Entertainment included a high-energy musical performance from the 15-member Elite Showband and contemporary dance performance from KnotDance, along with gold face painting and complementary rides on the Gateway Clipper fleet. Though September 5 turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far, that didn’t deter guests from embracing the gold and glam theme by breaking out their best red-carpet sequins, metallics, stilettos and bling. Gold-themed bites and beverages were provided by the culinary team from Rivers Casino.

Many thanks to our honorary event co-chairs: Sylvia Dallas & John Oliver; Katie & Tom Lamb; Conor Lamb, Coleman Lamb & Sarah Lamb; Pam & Terry Wirginis; and Hannah & Brad Roth (shown above with Riverlife President Lisa Schroeder), who showed tremendous leadership in raising support for the party. We would also like to thank our incredible host committee along with the Rivers Casino team, event volunteers, performers and everyone else who made Party at the Pier such a success.

Finally, thank you and much gratitude to our event sponsors for making this fundraiser possible:
