Riverlife teams up with Hello Neighbor to welcome new friends to Pittsburgh’s riverfronts

By July 19, 2018Blog

On a sunny Sunday in early July, Riverlife partnered with Hello Neighbor for the second year in a row to welcome the Hello Neighbor Cohort to Pittsburgh’s rivers.  Hello Neighbor improves the lives of refugees and immigrants by matching them with dedicated Pittsburgh neighbors to guide and support them in their new lives.

Over 165 family members and neighbors joined Riverlife on the Gateway Clipper as we set sail from Station Square to explore all three rivers. Our staff enjoyed sharing stories about Riverlife projects along the riverbanks like the Point State Park renovation, creation of the Mon Wharf Landing and the mural under the Fort Duquesne Bridge.

We loved seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they experienced the beauty of Pittsburgh’s riverfronts from the open air decks of the boat and enjoyed refreshments (and air conditioning) inside. Thanks to the Hello Neighbor and Gateway Clipper staffs for helping create another memorable experience for these new Pittsburgh friends and neighbors!

Riverlife is proud to sponsor this cruise as we aim to make Pittsburgh’s riverfronts cleaner, safer and more fun for everyone. Check out our full gallery of photos from the cruise at our Facebook page.
