Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park is now open in Morgantown, West Virginia. The full park renovation included expansion of Ruby Amphitheater, revitalization of Walnut Street Landing, a realigned riverfront trail and a new picnic plaza.
Starting in 2016, Riverlife teamed up with the Northern West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center as part of our River Towns program to provide riverfront planning tools to Mon River Valley towns. Riverlife and the Center toured waterfront sites, hosted community feedback workshops and reviewed existing redevelopment plans.
Funding for Riverlife’s River Towns program was generously provided by Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation. The investment from the foundation has allowed Riverlife share successful riverfront improvement models to Mon River communities.
We congratulate our Mon Valley neighbors and the City of Morgantown, West Virginia on the opening. The park will provide additional recreational connections and amenities to the Monongahela riverfront.
