Last week, Riverlife was challenged by a generous donor–and big fan of Pittsburgh’srivers–to find 20 additional Riverlife donors by the end of Giving Tuesday.
We are thrilled to tell you that by the time the clock struck midnight, Riverlife had received donations from not 20, but 71 donors, raising an incredible $16,645 and decisively unlocking $2,000 of challenge funding from that generous riverfront supporter.
That is a huge showing of support for Riverlife initiatives like #CompletingTheLoop of riverfront open space between the West End, 31st Street, and Hot Metals Bridges, and our special programs and amenities that make the riverfronts more vibrant and welcoming.
The pandemic has shown that people need more public open space on the riverfronts, and that those spaces must connect inward to the city’s neighborhoods. As we celebrate yesterday’s showing of support, our work doesn’t take a break.
Thanks to the tremendous response from our community, we met our initial December fundraising goal of $10,000 early–a happy surprise for which we’re grateful. We are so encouraged by the potential for what we will do together in 2021 to improve the riverfronts that we’re doubling down.
Our new goal is to raise $20,000 by December 31, starting with a pop-up Double Your Donation Day today, Tuesday, December 8. A former Riverlife board member and cherished community member will match your donations dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000 on 12/8.
We’d love to have you join us this coming Tuesday. Until then, cheers to the riverfronts and the tremendous potential they hold for all of us. Thank you for being a part of their story.
