Riverhounds Stadium

The stadium for Pittsburgh’s Riverhounds soccer team, also known as Highmark Stadium, sits on the edge of the Mon River just downriver from Station Square in Pittsburgh’s bustling South Side neighborhood. The stadium’s proximity to the Ohio River headwaters and Three Rivers Heritage Trail make it a natural destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts and trail users. With killer views of Downtown, the stadium is a thrilling place to take in a game and enjoy life on the riverfront.

The Three Rivers Heritage Trail runs along the river edge of the stadium. Riverlife provided design consultation for the trail connection and landscaping which preserves public trail access while maintaining views of the field for ticketholders.

Development

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds broke ground on Highmark Stadium on June 25, 2012, with construction complete on April 13, 2013 at a total cost of $10.2 million raised entirely through private investment. The prime riverfront location offers jaw-dropping views of the downtown skyline on the site of the former Trib Total Media Amphitheater west of Station Square. Highmark Stadium seats approximately 3,500 spectators on the south and east sides of the field for Riverhounds home games and other sporting events.  The north side of the field remains open to provide visitors with incomparable views of the Pittsburgh skyline.  For concerts, capacity increases to about 15,000.
