Point State Park Connector

The Point State Park Monongahela Wharf Connector is a traffic-free, non-motorized ramp that  connects Point State Park to the western side of the Mon Wharf Landing.

The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of State Parks, has completed an 8-month construction project joining Point State Park with the Mon Wharf switchback and solidifying the park’s link to the Great Allegheny Passage.

This connector significantly enhances overall trail conditions, addressing narrow pinch points and obstructions, while eliminating a curb hop and a challenging 90-degree turn on the route to this magnificent state park and confluence.

Riverlife held the vision for and design of this vital connection, solidifying the park’s link to the Great Allegheny Passage.

Countless partners played a role in the complicated journey to make this connection a reality. This achievement required close collaboration with DCNR’s Facility, Design and Construction team, Mosites Construction Company and Allegheny City Electric, along with Point State Park staff-rangers, maintenance, environmental education staff and front line administration and collaboration with the City of Pittsburgh, PA Department of Transportation, Pittsburgh Parking Authority, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along with collaboration from Friends of the Riverfront, Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy and BikePGH.
