Allegheny Riverfront Green Boulevard
The Allegheny Riverfront Vision Plan, now known as the Allegheny Riverfront Green Boulevard plan, was developed throughout 2009-2013 by the City of Pittsburgh, the Urban Redevelopment Authority and Riverlife. The plan examines the future opportunities for development, transportation and public open space for the many southern edge river communities along the Allegheny. These include the Strip District, Lawrenceville, Morningside and Highland Park.

Background
The Allegheny Riverfront Vision Plan process began in 2009 to create a long-term plan for the Pittsburgh neighborhoods bordering an almost 6.5-mile stretch of the Allegheny River. The study area begins at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center downtown and stretches upriver through the Strip District, Lawrenceville, Highland Park and Morningside.
The vision planning process received further support via a $1.5 million federal TIGER II planning grant in 2010 from the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. After dozens of public community meetings and massive resident feedback, the plan was updated and released as the Allegheny Riverfront Green Boulevard vision plan. The Green Boulevard study makes recommendations for enhanced ecological systems, market-based land uses, neighborhood connections, open space, infrastructure and pedestrian and transit opportunities.
