Chun (Pure) Zheng is thrilled to serve as Urban Design and Community Engagement Specialist for Riverlife. Trained as a landscape architect, urban designer, and transition designer, Pure is passionate about bottom-up citizen engagement processes and design for social, spatial, and ecological resilience. She has a PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University and her doctoral research concerns the opportunities and challenges of urban commoning practices.

Pure worked as a Community Design Associate at the Design Center Pittsburgh in 2017, collaborating with local communities to co-design creative solutions for their socio-environmental issues. She is also a Permaculture Institute of North America certified permaculture designer, working with small-scale urban gardens to establish food sustainability through holistic design.

Outside of the office, Pure is a home gardener, photographer, and keeper of two dogs, Cookie and Mochi.
