Maria Riley
Riverfront Project Manager
Maria is Riverlife’s Riverfront Project Manager and also serves as Riverlife’s Accessibility Coordinator. She has been practicing landscape architecture with a focus on community design since receiving her Master of Landscape Architecture from UVA in 2003. The projects that she is proudest of have creative elements that make places healthier, in every sense of the word.
Maria is happily returning to Pittsburgh from her hometown, New York City. While there, she accomplished a breadth of diverse projects from small local designs through large-scale, multi-million-dollar construction and planning projects. Maria’s work often refers to the history of a site, and she believes that by tapping into the memory of a community and understanding the progression of a site, we collectively create something new and vibrant that is rooted in the place, and form plans for spaces that everyone can appreciate.
After paying NYC rent for the last six years, she is incredibly excited about the house she just bought in Brighton Heights with a yard (a YARD!) for her dog, Mookie Roo.
